This resources is designed to support students in year 7 to review and improve their core numeracy skills. Having used this school wide in my own school for the last 3 years, daily practice using these booklets have shown significant improvement in student’s numeracy.
There is one Maths Masters booklet for each half-term: Autumn 1, Autumn 2, Spring 1, Spring 2, Summer 1 and Summer 2. Each booklet covers 7 weeks of daily practice, with a set of six quick questions for every school day (Monday to Friday). That makes 35 sets and 210 questions per booklet. The questions are designed to build fluency in core number skills through short, regular practice.
Every day’s six questions follow the same pattern:
- Fractions of amounts, e.g. ¾ of 32
- Multiplying by 10, e.g. 41 × 10
- Adding fractions: three fractions with related denominators, e.g. ⅙ + ³⁄₁₂ + ⅙. Sometimes the answer box comes first (▢ = …).
- Dividing a three-digit number by a one-digit number, always dividing exactly, e.g. 213 ÷ 3
- Multiplying two 2-digit numbers, e.g. 17 × 84
- Multiplying by 0 or 1, and dividing by 1, e.g. 0 × 402, 1 × 508, 656 ÷ 1
Each question has an answer box and a circle for marking. The cover has space for the pupil’s name, class and teacher.
Each booklet has a matching answer book with the answers written in red in the boxes. Fraction answers are given in their simplest form.
I recomment printing as an A5 booklet. This means that the whole booklet only uses 2 pieces of paper - great for printing budgets!
