Position, direction and 2D shapes (four days).

Children follow directions, forwards and backwards, left and right, first to music and then in the context of a game. They also guess mystery toys given clues about their positions on shelves. Children make shapes using children as corners and ropes to form the sides, discussing the properties of squares, rectangles and triangles. They draw as many different looking squares, rectangles and triangles as possible. Children guess shapes according to clues about their properties and sort them according to where they have straight or curved sides or both. Shapes are combined to form new shapes which are then described.

Excellent detailed planning which is well differentiated. Activities include shape challenges and using toys to understand position and direction.
