RE SMART and PPT "Why is the Torah important to Jewish people?" 6 lessons and all resources

This unit is a series of six lessons and all resources for the Jewish unit “Why is the Torah important to Jewish people?” These lessons are based on RE planning for Key Stage 2.

Each lesson starts with a sticky knowledge retrieval quiz and vocabulary activity.
Activities include a comparison of Orthodox and Progressive Judaism; online synagogue tours; special word articulate game; Shema group task; mezuzah and tefillin facts; tefillin instruction ordering task; Jewish prayer group task; special word art activity; Torah texts comprehension task; Kosher and Trefah food sorting activity; food wrapper study; design a menu for a Jewish guest; independent research task looking at the differences between Orthodox and Reform synagogues; and a final group discussion based on the statement “Rituals, traditions, stories and celebrations help to keep a community strong”.

Lessons include videos, group/partner discussion, group tasks, individual tasks and making links to children’s own lives. All resources are included, and there is a printing requirement list for the whole unit. Please note - the SMART and PowerPoint contain the same content, but you need Notebook software to open SMART.
