







In Year 5, students learn to "read and write decimal numbers as fractions , and to “read, write, and order numbers with up to three decimal places.” They learn to read and write decimal fractions and relate tenths, hundredths and thousandths both in standard and word form.
In Year 6 student “identify the value of each digit in numbers given to three decimal places,” as part of consolidating place value and understanding of decimals. Expanded form, standard form, and word notation continue to be underpinning skills with numbers (including decimals) up to three decimal places

the format used in the USA and other countries where there is no ‘AND’ between the tens and hundreds
the format used in the UK and Australia & other countries where there is an ‘AND’ between the hundreds and tens
