The Christmas Basket: A non-fiction essay for high school and above

The Christmas Basket: A conversation starter for your holiday hangover is a non-fiction essay I wrote about the real effects of charity on poor people. It is an educational tool, meant to be read and discussed, and to provoke deep thinking about what it mean to help people, and what happens when people in need are not consulted nor asked about their lives. It has been published and re-published over my time as a social worker, and I have facilitated workshops to social work students using it as the point of departure for conversation about social work and the helping professions. I am able to facilitate in English and in Spanish.
