Scheme of Work Content:
Linking with the NC Programme of Study for Science, Year 4 pupils will explore the theme of the Digestive System.

They will think about the different body parts and actions associated with eating, through the theme of Sweets. Pupils will be inspired by a professional choreographer’s interpretation of different kinds of sweets, and how they used their properties to inform choices about action and dynamic content.

Pupils will be taught an extract from the Gobstoppers Dance in Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker! They will then take different sweets as inspiration to create their own dances, looking at the properties of the sweets themselves, as well as the eating process involved. These sequences will be improved by the use of choreographic devices.
