Year 6 Arithmetic SATs Intervention – Expected Standard

This Year 6 maths arithmetic SATs intervention pack is designed for pupils working at the expected standard in maths who are secure with basic written methods but need targeted practice with fractions and percentages to move from low 20s to 30+ marks on the KS2 arithmetic paper. Short, structured, ready-to-run lessons build fluency in key arithmetic skills that underpin reasoning and problem solving, with reasoning-based plenaries to consolidate understanding and maximise impact.

12 sequenced lessons included (L1–L12):
L1: Find equivalent fractions (including simplifying)
L2: Add fractions with different denominators using the concept of equivalent fractions
L3: Subtract fractions with different denominators using the concept of equivalent fractions
L4: Convert between improper fractions and mixed number fractions
L5: Add fractions with different denominators, including mixed number fractions, using the concept of equivalent fractions
L6: Subtract fractions with different denominators, including mixed number fractions, using the concept of equivalent fractions
L7: Multiply pairs of proper fractions
L8: Multiply proper fractions by whole numbers
L9: Divide proper fractions by whole numbers
L10: Find fractions of amounts (including three-digit numbers)
L11: Find percentages of amounts
L12: Find percentages of amounts
