Constitution : An Interview with James Madison" Father of the Constitution": Reader's Theater Script

Constitution Day is September 17th each year(except for 2017) when the day falls on a Sunday and will be celebrated on September 18th. This play would be a great addition to your lessons about the U.S. Constitution. Part of my Ms. Bie Ografe series of plays, this Reader's Theater Script is on the "Father of the Constitution", James Madson(1751-1836), and his sharing with students the history of the writing of the Constitution. Madison who would become the 4th President of the United States(1809-1817)), played a very important role in the forming of our US Constitution. In addition to being a delegate, he introduced the first additions to the Constitution(amendments) which came to be known as the Bill of Rights. With 13 audience questioners, a Did You Know Section, comprehension questions, a Teacher Page with extension activities, key and additional links, students will learn about the writing of our important government document, the Constitution. Other plays in the Ms. Bie Ografee’s Talk Show Series: Dr. Seuss, Charles Dickens, Johnny Appleseed, Albert, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Bessie Coleman Sacagawea, George Washington Carver, Thomas Edison, Martin Luther King, Sequoia, Michelangelo, DaVinci, Tuskegee Airmen, Susan B. Anthony, Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, an interview with a groundhog, an interview with a leprechaun, an interview with Simon, victim of the Black Death, An Interview with Agent 355, a female agent in the Culper Spy Ring(Revolutionary War), Interview with a 49er from the California Gold Rush , Albert Einstein, Rachel Carson, Katherine Johnson and more.

March - Book Three

March - Book Three

This is the third book in the trilogy called March – Book Three. This graphic novel continues the struggle of African-Americans during the Civil Rights Movement. The focus of this novel is the fight for the right for African-American to register and vote in southern states. John Lewis is the chairman of one minority group called the SNCC, but he also joins the minority group Martin Luther King Jr. is affiliated with to pursue equal rights. John Lewis tells the movements’ stories with truth, frustration, grace, and thankfulness. Both the words and the graphic pictures tell and show students every powerful story in this time period of the pursuit of justice to obtain the right for African-Americans to vote. I have added some sites and videos for students to see to help clarify the events explained in the book. I have also integrated writing and speech assignments into this one giant social studies’ period of time.

US President Ronald Reagan Wordsearch & Factsheet Handout The USA United States of America

US President Ronald Reagan Wordsearch & Factsheet Handout The USA United States of America

1 starter-style keyword wordsearches and 1 x factsheet handout Wordsearch include space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Factsheet handout includes key biographical information and suggested activities based on the information. Either could be use for a 10 minute or 1 hour activity with the extension work. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!
