Would work particularly well with Y9 and GCSE to get them using more interesting opinions but can be adapted for any year really. It’s good to use for Media topic (Music) and for writing with opinions. I have used this resource many times over the last few years and just changed it each year to make it up to date, it has always gone down really well with students! Mexico (Cinco de Mayo) - ¿Quién tiene...? - Card Game

This game is designed to practice the vocabulary related to Mexico and the Cinco de Mayo celebration. INSTRUCTIONS This game is a version of the classic I-Have-Who-Has game. Print the document one-sided, laminate and cut out the cards. Distribute all the cards randomly to the students. The ideal number of players is 5 (4 cards for each student), but it will also work with 2 to 10 players. For bigger classes, you might want to print several copies. Select a student to begin the game by reading his card out loud and then putting it down. The other students listen attentively to each question, answer it if they have the answer card and then they read the next question. The game is over when all the cards are down. It is a great game to practice the newly taught vocabulary, as well as reading and listening skills.

El calendario - Card Game

This game is a Spanish version of the classic " I have… Who has …? " game, designed to practice revising a unit on weather and clothes by asking and answering about seasons, weather, months, days of the week, birthdays, holidays, numbers, clothes etc. This is an easy-to-play game and a great way to practice essential language concepts with the whole class. As students match up the answers on their cards with questions on other students’ cards, they get valuable practice with vocabulary, as well as reading and listening skills. Directions: Cut out the cards along the dotted line and laminate. For bigger classes, you might want to print several copies of each set. Give out all the cards in the set to the students. It is important to use all the cards. Choose a student to go first. I usually do that by a counting rhyme. Have the selected student read the question at the bottom of the card aloud and then put the card down. The student who has the card with the answer then reads that answer aloud. This student will then read the question at the bottom of their card and put the card down. Play continues in this fashion until all of the cards have been played. The game will end with the same student who started play. Every card in the set is connected to a card before it and a card after it. To keep the game moving at a quick pace, all students need to pay attention to every question that has been asked. I tell my younger students that this is a magic game and that the magic only works if you pay attention, which is actually true. The magic happens in the end, when the question on the last card actually matches the answer on the very first card. Enjoy!

Cultural lesson about my hometown’s big celebration: Las fallas, includes clips, a song and lots of explanations in Spanish about this popular Celebration declared Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad in 2017. It goes well with the AS/ALevels Spanish AQA topic “El Patrimonio Nacional”. It is also a very good powerpoint if you want to do a cultural lesson with KS3 or KS4 students, however the texts are in TL and would need some translation. I have a KS3 version of the presentation created, please, ask if interested :). I hope you enjoy such a colourful display! Spanish Festivals: La Tomatina - Spanish KS4 AQA Writing 3

This is the lesson that I have prepared for my y9/y10 in relation to the topic of Spanish culture (Festivals & Celebrations). The lesson starts with the starter about San Fermin Celebration (photo card style) (it was previous lesson title and I always try to link things together) and following review of lesson outcomes we move onto to trying to sing along with Enrique Iglesias (click on the 3d man for the youtube link or search for a YouTube video with lyrics). Students will then recap on SER conjugation in present tense and learn new / revise already known vocabulary on the topic of La Tomatina celebration using Quizlet and Quizlet live online tools. I have then included a video (see link) of Rosa from SpanishPod101 (see their channel in youtube) describing the celebration of La Tomatina. Even though the video is in Spanish and Rosa speaks really quickly, there are subtitles in English so that all students have a chance to listen to a native speaker and at the same time understand what the video is about (note: I personally find the Spanishpod101 videos amazing as they address quite a few cultural / grammar / pronunciation and other aspects so I would recommend letting your students know that a lot of resources are available for free. Consequently, students answer quiz questions about the video and move on to the grammar activity. They revise present tense and then analyse how to form 'Impersonal SE' structures. Then they do a quick test to check understanding and move on to a Writing Section 3 activity (translation from English into Spanish). They self-assess it and play Pictionary. Please note that there is also a handout to make the tasks easier and faster to access. Enjoy!
