Professions pictures Twins Speaking activity

This is a mixer activity that uses professions vocabulary, including 16 sets of twins. Each student gets a sheet with 5 pictures. Students mingle, speaking in the target language, trying to find their twin (the only other student with all 5 of the same pictures, but in a different order). This activity may be used on many different levels: identify the profession; describe the profession; "I want to be" the profession; change tenses; change verbs. Once twins find each other, they should find something that they really have in common that is related to both the grammar and the vocabulary of the activity. This activity has pictures only so may be used for any language; the only text is in English - "twin" and "in common". Also includes second set with black and white pictures.

Professions Connect the dots Squares game

This is a partner activity. Students take turns identifying professions and then connecting them if correct. The goal is to complete as many squares as possible. Uses the vocabulary for: teacher, doctor, dentist, lawyer, mail carrier, police officer, firefighter, cashier, salesperson, writer, secretary, businessperson, chef, waiter. Contains 2 versions - 1 in color and 1 in black and white. Good for any language.

Professions Connect 4 game

Connect 4 game has pictures of professions on both sides. Students take turns calling a square, using its coordinates (teacher and baker). If correct, the student earns the square. If wrong, the partner gets the square. The goal is to get 4 in a row twice on the same card. Vary game for different levels: use a particular verb, use a tense, describe, make a comparison. The title (in English) is the only text, so this may be used for any language. Includes 2 game boards. Easy to move pictures in order to match your textbook exactly.

These pages could also be used to write different stories, using the pictures as a stimulus. ***** Please note - these resources provide visual prompts and support to the students, not direct language instruction ************** Welcome to the 'Let’s Write in Russian!' pack. There are lots of ways of using this teaching pack. It could be used as writing assessment for students learning Russian. The students could write about a topic in Russian before starting a unit, and then write again about the topic, using the second worksheet at the end of the topic to see how much they have progressed. It could also be used as an introduction to guided writing. Students can write sentences as a class and share the sentences together and they can then write them on their own. Alternatively, students could work in pairs - one student dictates to the other what to write down about what they see in the picture.
