#### Dyscalculia Resource Pack

A collection of activities designed for children with dyscalculia/low numeracy. The activities work on fundamental maths skills including counting, recognising numerals, comparing magnitudes, and thinking in groups. The activities in each section are divided into Introductory, Medium Difficulty, and Confident. They cover the raw maths skills listed above, but also explore the connections of maths to nature, art, and sport. Each activity has an analysis sheet to guide you in detail through the skills needed to succeed at that activity and help you explore potential reasons for your pupil’s struggles. The activities are designed mainly for one-to-one work, though a few can be used with the whole class.

There are 6 jigsaw puzzles that help students to practise their number bonds. Each puzzle has 4 pieces. The target number is in pictoral form so that counting is needed, they then need to find the correct questions and place them to complete the puzzle activity. The number bonds are 8, 10, 12, 15, 20 and 25

Number sense takes center stage in doing mathematics and is one of the main stumble blocks for students with dyscalculia. Being able to visualize and apply a number line is an important number sense activity. You can help your student to develop this ability using a ruler or a tape measure that shows the inches or centimeters on one side and is blank on the other side, as number line, and a few small indicator stickies. This PowerPoint presentation breaks down how to work out fraction of amounts into basic steps. It uses colour and visual to further explain. The numbers and fractions increase as the PowerPoint progresses. The presentation can be paused for pupils to do the calculations at each step first. It is ideal for young pupils learning how find fractions of amounts or for pupils with difficulties in maths who benefit from a visual representation of the process.
