Learning Objective of lesson: To investigate the volcanic eruption of Montserrat, 1995-1997. Students locate Montserrat on a map, watch a short video from National Geographic (link to the video in the lesson), they will then complete a table of facts and keywords before moving on to the main activity which is working in groups to create a report on the eruption. The lesson finishes on a fun game of Taboo using keywords from the Restless Earth unit of study within AQA A syllabus.

A fully planned lesson where students watch a special news report and write down the impacts of the flood under SEEP headings. They then use this information to annotate photographs of the flooding and discuss how the news report made them feel. As homework or a task for next lesson, students are provided with a variety of poems about floods and asked to discuss them and create an illustration to accompany their chosen poem. Notes are written on each of the slides with links to videos and news articles as well as what to prepare before delivering this lesson.
