It then introduces the vocabulary for lots of areas within a school (e.g. canteen, playground, staff room etc.), and invites students to put these words into simple descriptive sentences. There is then a reading activity and a listening activity to practise this vocabulary. It ends with a written exercise asking students to write about the school they go to. A 15-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then reminds students about inversion (after “In meinem Zimmer…”) and then introduces 13 words for bedroom furniture (e.g. “ein Regal”, “ein Bett”, “einen Stuhl” etc.). There is a quick listening activity to put the furniture in order and then a reminder about using “kein” properly and another listening activity to write out the furniture words that students hear. There is then a “spot and correct the mistakes” activity and some translations into English and into German. It’s followed by a text for students to find out the some adjectives like “big”, “tidy”, “light” etc. (plus another listening activity to practise this) and it ends with by asking students to put together a written piece to describe a messy bedroom. Starts with ways to state your opinion, then lists intensifiers, explains “weil”, “denn”, and “da”, and then gives three pages of emoji adjectives to use. I recommend printing off on at least A3 size, in colour, and laminate them.
