I have a wealth of resources that are aimed primarily at KS4 and KS5; however, there are some useful KS3 tasks that have been uploaded this year. Topics at KS5 include: Russia and its Rulers, 1855-1941; Later Tudors, 1547-1603; Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th Centuries; Italian Unification, 1830-1870; and Germany, 1890-1990. As well as History, I also have a few resources relating to Geography and ICT that some users may find helpful.

Battle of Hastings and Norman England Knowledge Test

(0)
Based around two units from a Year 7 SOW focusing on Norman England (this can be found in my shop). Students are given a range of 1 or 2 mark knowledge questions on dates/names/events/definitions associated with The Battle of Hastings and Norman England. This form of assessment would be in addition to knowledge and source essays to practise the skills required for studying History. Also included is a sheet with answers to all of the questions. The test is 35 questions long (35 marks).

Microsoft Word: Manipulating Text

(0)
A task to improve students' knowledge of Microsoft Word; this is ideal practice for the OCR CLAIT Qualification. Students are presented with a piece of text on the history of the goldfish. They must follow the instructions to format and edit the document. I have provided an answer sheet which shows the finished product; students can compare their work with this at the end of the task. Students are asked to cut and paste; insert text; find and replace text etc. An extension activity could be to get students to create their own instructions for a partner to follow.

'Historical Heights' History Display

(0)
The display consists of several heads of historical figures in a line across the board; however, each head is positioned at the actual height they would have stood (5ft 5in, 6ft 2in etc.) Students love walking past and measuring themselves against Hitler, Queen Victoria etc. Included are several Historical heads, the names/heights, titles and a key for the side of the display. All that is needed are coloured strips that run vertically from the bottom of the display to the relevant head (see link). I used the coloured border rolls for these! Enjoy!

Revision Dominoes - Later Tudors

(1)
A set of 22 revision dominoes for the OCR Later Tudors course. Can also be used for any course covering the Mid Tudor Crisis and reign of Elizabeth I. Really useful as a starter activity - hand one domino to each pupil and have them read out the date, the pupil with the corresponding event reads this out and then reads out their date. This should start a chain reaction around the room. My class always want to beat their time! this should start a chain reaction around the room. My class always want to beat their time! There are lots more dates and events that can be added; however, this is a useful starting point.

Geography Fieldwork - Microclimates

(0)
Included are various resources relating to microclimates that formed part of our field work in Year 7 Geography. Students review how to measure the weather, are introduced to microclimates and then label a diagram. Other resources are for use on the day of the field work, where students walk around the school grounds to pre-determined location to measure the weather; they then think about land use and make decisions. I have also included an 'Exploring Microclimates' PDF provided by School Grounds UK/Learning Through Landscapes. This gives instructions on how to carry out microclimate field work.

Sketch Maps - Theme Parks

(0)
Resources relating to a Year 7 Geography lesson on sketch maps. Included alongside the lesson plan is a PowerPoint presentation. As an activity/homework, students create their own sketch maps of a theme park, adding in various symbols and making it visually appealing/informative. I printed off a couple of maps of Alton Towers/Thorpe Park to pass around the class (as shown on the PowerPoint), so students could see the level of detail (or lack of it) they needed.
