This is a copy of all of the questions that I used for my GCSE students this summer. They sat the edexcel course but the questions could equally be used for the AQA course.

Here is a power point that drills the most common words that students needed to know as the actual answer on the French GCSE AQA papers from 2018-2022. I have put the list together from QLA of the papers. There are two powerpoints. One is for the foundation tier and one is for the higher tier. They both build up confidence with: understanding the bullet points -interactive games Snakes and ladders game how to ask a question.

This resource is designed to support students in preparation for their reading and listening exam in French and is suitable for foundation and higher students. Two activities to support students to talk about what they watch on TV and why. I used this with a mixed ability class of higher and foundation students.

A worksheet that can be used with either KS3 or KS4 to consolidate the weather in French.

This is a verb drill sheet designed to consolidate and build on prior knowledge of forming the immediate future tense in the context of technology. It includes vocabulary about Instagram/Facebook/Spotify and supports students in how to write accurately on their plans to use technology. An answer sheet is provided.

This is a starter/revision puzzle and includes the top 35 phrases and words that are most commonly used on the student and the teacher copies of the GCSE French Edexcel photocards. The wordsearch solution is provided and I have also reminded students that they will need to work out where to place the accents on certain words that they find in the puzzle.

This French retrieval starter includes the following items: a mixture of vocabulary and grammar building exercises a self quiz of some of the key verbs in all 3 tenses to support the development of writing and speaking.

The resource includes a ppt which introduces: -key festivals in France and what they celebrate. -loto game -sentence builders (how I celebrate a festival) -listening choices (to introduce present tense activities) -a narrow reading -translation -some past tense phrases too. There is also a present tense work sheet on festivals in the present tense and a knowledge organiser that includes the past and the present.

These cover a large part of theme 1 for Edexcel GCSE -describing yourself -talking about family -talking about friends -festivals -TV -Cinema -Reading -Sport -technology Each contains a core verb table, a list of common exam questions, higher phrases, impressive structures, grammar,spelling and pronunciation tips.

An introductory lesson on technology for KS3 Spanish or GCSE Spanish foundation students. Includes a sentence builder

This contains two teaching resources: PLEASE NOTE THE VIDEOS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND HAVE BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE WEB AND SET TO PRIVATE. STILL LOTS OF GOOD RESOURCES. Resource A: I made this as a KS3 resource to show students that learning languages can certainly open doors in the future. Plan: Students mark on the progress line what they think of languages at the start of the lesson. Students listen to the celebrities talking about the languages that they speak and complete exercise A of the worksheet. Students read the statements and decide which ones are true. These are reviewed throughout the lesson and are finally marked at the end so that students can reflect on their learning throughout the lesson. The resources also include a version of the Game of Life. This is based on real life accounts of linguists. The links to the videos are in the footnotes of the powerpoint slides. Resource B Students complete the word search on page one of the workbook. This has some of the jobs that you can do with a language. Students then play Call my Bluff (explained on the ppt), This game matches job descriptions and jobs. Students then look at some of the international comapnies that recruit linguists by playing a snap game. The lesson ends with a true false test on why languages are important. This is also on resource A One of the video links is used again in resource B. I made resource B to follow on from A that I had used in the previous year.

This is a worksheet that I recently used in an observation lesson. It supports students in building up sentences so that they can write a short paragraph about school rules. I have added grading as this is required at my school. I find this hard to do for single sentences at GCSE in MFL so please feel free to remove this.

A worksheet that consolidates key vocabulary.

This lesson was designed to introduce students to the most visited places in France and to give them an awareness of what they are, their significance and their location. Starter: Students match the French names of the monuments with a short description to the pictures of them on the board. Activity 1: A running dictation to find the monuments on a map at the front of the classroom and then students have to correctly label their maps. Activity 2: Video and questions on the history and importance of Notre Dame. Activity 3: Two video clips and note taking activity of the damage and what was saved Plenary: To produce a crowdfunding poster on Notre Dame or an information leaflet on the most visited places. The template for the crowdfunding page has been added. Teacher notes have been added under the slide to explain how students might want to complete it.
