French - Personality pairwork starter

(1)
This starter activity is to practise personality words. In pairs, students point at an adjective on the sheet and then give a sentence about someone they know, changing the adjective ending where necessary.

Learn from your mistakes - display

(1)
This is a list of quotes from famous and successful people in history who failed their way to the top. I have this on display in my classroom and regularly refer to it when encouraging learning from mistakes.

French - Adjectives pairwork

Pupils each have a copy of this sheet. In pairs, they must point to one of the adjectives, choose someone who has that character trait and then give a sentence in French.

French healthy eating presentation

Use this PPT to talk about healthy eating. The food triangle demonstrates how much of each food group should be consumed. There are examples of each food group, approximate quantities and a match-up activity.

French - Label the countries in Europe

(1)
Pupils use the worksheet (and their knowledge of countries in Europe) to label the map of Europe in French. This could be done previous to or following teaching of countries in Europe or maybe a quick pre-worksheet quiz about the countries in English.

French - Give the paintings a name

(1)
The idea of this activity is for the pupils to give the four French paintings their own titles. It’s amazing what they come up with! I would advise you give them dictionaries. Ideal as a starter for a dictionary skills lesson.
Letter shapes

Letter shapes

(1)
I sometimes use letter shapes as a starter activity. Use the shapes on the sheet instead of the letters themselves. You could leave accents above letters as they are, or use the shapes for those as well.

German - Cases tables

(2)
Get pupils to stick these tables into their books for reference. Definite and indefinite pronouns and their cases (masculine, feminine, neuter and plural + nominative, accusative, genitive and dative).

This activity can be done in pairs or as a class. As a class, one pupil leaves the room while everyone else decides what the correct sequence should be. The pupil re-enters the room and tries to guess the sequence. If incorrect, they have to start again. It's better as a pairwork activity. One pupil decides which options they want to use in the complete paragraph. The other reads through the paragraph, guessing the options as they go. If incorrect, they must start again. Cue lots of laughter!
