This is a lesson on finding the area of sectors. It includes worked examples and an exercise on finding the area of sectors. Following this it includes worked examples and questions on finding the area of segments. Also included is an extension to work backwards and find the radius when given the sector area. A spot the error activity for rounding to significant figures, a collection of common errors, and students need to find the error, correct it, and explain what the student should have done. Might make a good plenary or consolidation activity. Feedback would be great!

A decode the joke activity for Expanding one bracket with surds. Builds in difficulty to include negatives, adding surds, and simplifying surds. Makes a good self marking activity, and the sympathy laughs at the bad joke are always entertaining. Feedback would be great!

This is a matching card activity for adding and subtracting surds. The document attached has the answers and questions scrambled so that I can make the students cut it out! The answers are however also attached. If you fancy making it more challenging don't include some of the answers, or put in a few red herrings to throw them off! Feedback would be great!

A lesson on comparing data using the averages and the range. It is based around sporting data from 2021, and includes a fully animated powerpoint and a worksheet with answers. It covers how to pick the most appropriate average, including the advantages and disadvantages of each. Follows are worked examples of how to compare data. A complete lesson on sharing in ratios. Includes a burglary activity which I found on here, but can't remember who shared it!

A whole lesson on expressing quantities as fractions of other amounts. There a simple questions, which expand to involve questions where you express shaded amounts of shapes as fractions of whole shapes.

An activity based around current world records, requiring students to convert between mm, cm, m and km. Some are multi-step requiring conversions from mm to m etc

A worksheet to test they can find missing sides of a right angled triangle, with the added step of finding the area at the end. I recommend my class use surds for accuracy, if however you allow them to round it does lead to interesting discussions about why their answers are slightly different.

A resource for AFL or a plenary activity to help test students understanding of standard form, including calculations and converting. I ask students to mark it and leave comments to help the students correct their mistakes. It is hand written so apologies for my handwriting!! Comments and reviews would be much appreciated...

A worksheet on dividing money. The amounts are all decimals, and build to written problems! Answers are on the second sheet. They answer the questions, each giving them a letter, and then unscramble them to get the answer to a clue. E.g. for a city, you might get the letters, kory, and they would unscramble to give York

This resource was made for my Year 7 group. It was the first of a set of lessons on factors, multiples and primes, and was designed to teach them some key tests to help decide if a number was prime. I printed the slide with the key divisibility tests on, and the pupils used whiteboards for slides 7 through 10. I also printed the grid of questions for them to work through on Slide 11. The challenge questions at the end were used to stretch my more able and are based on those from the Junior Maths Challenge.

I have created some questions based around the skills learnt in Chapter 2 of Statistics (Edexcel Yr 1 Statistics and Mechanics). However I felt that my students would benefit with more practice on working with the large data set. As such all of these questions are working with data from the Large Data Set provided by Edexcel, to ensure that they build familiarity with the data. Answers are provided and reviews appreciated. This is a quick crossword which tests students knowledge of the key definitions covered in Unit 1 of Statistics (Edexcel A Level Maths Yr 1). It covers key definitions such as Census and Population but also covers the units of measurement in the large data set. This resource was created for a low ability class to revise and consolidate column addition, it builds in difficulty to include carrying, and also includes questions where they need to change the horizontal sums into a column sum.

An activity to test knowledge of squaring, cubing, square rooting and cube rooting. Pupils need to answer the questions and then colour all the corresponding squares the assigned colours.
