With the run up to the Olympics this was a a really fun session. It is for a double period and the resources I have added are based specificaly around Australia.
This could easily be adapted to also suit KS2.
I have provided the task briefs that I used but again these could be adapted to suit your students.
Have fun, we did and we also created some excellent work for display!
I used this as part of an enrichment day activity. I had years 7 - 9 all mixed ability. It's a fun one off or the a good starting point for a unit of work.
In the lesson I designed this ppt for the student learn the dance by the Ghosts as a technical study. This is a fun lesson and a good starting point for a scheme of work.

Advisable prior knowledge: marking the moment, freezeframes, improvised dialogue, slow motion and stage fighting.
This powerpoint was written to inspire debate amongst my year 8 form and discuss the idea of punishment before a trial.
I wrote it the morning the news of Gadafi's death so it is a bit skitchy - feel free to add you own ideas.
This is the introduction lesson to my Capoeira scheme of work. In this lesson students will learn the basic actions (images and video linked in resource). Please note it is best that you learn these actions yourself prior to delivering the class so you can demonstrate them. Students then create their own short sequence as a soloist and then develop this in pairs. At the end of the lesson students watch an excerpt from A Linha Curva to reflect on how Itziki Galili incorporated this in his work (Links to GCSE).
The full scheme of work and resources are available in my shop should you like this lesson.
This free resource is the first of three lesson workshops exploring how Jerome Robbins builds tension and tells stories through dance. In this lesson students can learn some stylised actions (videos provided) and develop a short group sequence as “The Jets”.
This lesson was written for year 8 but can be adapted for older and younger dancers. The final task can also be extended into a second lesson of refining their work ready to perform it.

Subject: Dance A Level
Area: Writing essays
One area that students struggle with in A Level dance is essay writing. In this pack you will find a few hand outs that have helped my students understand the structure of their essays. It includes a resource on:
The “isms” meaning romanticism, classicism , modernism, post modernism. This will allow your students to connect context to content when writing about key works.
Structuring your dance analysis: focus on the literary skills required for good essay writing
Analysis reminder sheet (simple version)
Peer marking assessment sheet: this is great for students as it allows them to mark each others essays by breaking them down into component parts.
Subject: Teacher Training CPD
Topic: Differentiation for high attainers
Quite often we are very clear on how to differentiate for our lower attainers but we forget that this strategy should also be used for “stretch and challenge”
This pack contains an hours CPD training on differentiation for higher attainers. I delivered this at my school for my department when it was a key focus for our school development plan and it went down really well - and I enjoyed delivering it, I hope you do too.
Included:
PPT for training session
Facilitator guide
Resource for participants
Command words (GCSE)
Task design resource
Not included:
You will also need the marks scheme for your subject area

There are at least 3 lessons worth of activities depending on your class ability and personal teacher choices. I encourage you to adapt this to your students needs and abilities. This would suit those last few days of term where you need something educational but seasonal and fun to do (but you are just too tired to make the slides yourself)

This is a single ppt introducing shadows and encouraging initial thoughts and interpretations from the students. It could be extended to cover 2 one hour lessons simply by encouraging longer discussion and sharing of ideas
It also provides an overview of the unit and a long term homework task. This would also be usable for your online learners.
I do not have permission to share the videos from the AQA website but you will need two of them for this lesson: the whole work video and the interview with Christopher Bruce
