This bundle includes the 3 essays which formed the entirety of my HL Economics IA portfolio: a microeconomic, macroeconomic and international focused commentary. Together, they allowed me to achieve my Grade 7 in HL Economics in 2021.
The micro essay discusses an article titled, ‘Senate approves higher sin tax on cigarettes’. It examines the microeconomic impact of higher cigarette taxes in terms of marginal social benefit, marginal private benefit and welfare loss.
The macro essay discusses an article titled, ‘HS2: Plans for East Midlands transport hub link unveiled’. It examines the macroeconomic impact of implementing this structural improvement in terms of long-run aggregate supply, economic growth and inflationary pressure.
The international essay discusses an article titled, ‘UK to apply to join free trade pact with nations on other side of world’. It examines the economic impact of free trade agreements in terms of exports, allocative efficiency, competition and consumer surplus.
