This is lesson 3 of the unit ‘who are we’. The unit is designed to explore the UK physical and human landscape. This lesson investigates the air masses and other factors that influence the UK weather patterns.

This lesson is the second in the unit designed for year 7’s and introduces the year group to the UK geological landscape . The purpose of the lesson is for students to explore the geology of the UK and how glaciation has shaped our land.

This is the first lesson of a UK unit designed for year 7’s but can be modified for 8’s and 9’s. The objective of this lesson is for students to understand the phyiscal characteristics of upland, lowland and glaciated areas of the UK.

This unit takes your students on a journey through world development. The first series of lessons focus on the UK development. This includes the reasons and consequences to the north south divide within the country. The scheme of learning then focuses on development around the world, exploring the physical ad human reasons behind uneven development before investigating the consequences of uneven development in countries such as Brazil and South Africa. The topics ends with a detailed look at aid and how charities and governments are aiming to close the gap between rich and poor.

Cities have developed over thousands of years. From small settlements to outstanding conurbations. From the slums of Mumbai to the modern development of Dubai this topic explores the increasing popularity of cities. Students will follow a journey from the learning the services and functions of cities to exploring the vast, overpopulated megacities. The first series of lessons investigates cities in the UK, the establishment, decline and economic growth of essential cities such as London, Birmingham and Newcastle, The later parts of the topic explore cities around the world, including Mumbai, Lagos, Los Angeles and Singapore.
