NQT Mentor Report Wrting Support This pack is an NQT mentor report writing support. It supports those who are mentoring an NQT through the induction period to write reports with reflect the teacher standards. I have mentored NQTs through induction over many years and would have found it really useful to have this resource as a guide. This resource includes: A structure for writing the report which can be copied and pasted into the Local Authority template A four page document with key questions and examples linked to each teacher standard which can be used to help write the report My experience mentoring NQTs has been in primary schools, so there will be some phrases that are more tailored to primary settings e.g. reference to the teacher’s class, rather than classes, but this would be easy to adapt to suit secondary NQTs. This is a guide rather than complete reports that can be copied and pasted. This is because NQT reports must be written about the individual teacher. However, it will certainly save time and give some valuable pointers to help you to write a report that is truly reflective of the teacher’s strengths and next steps.

Father’s Day Writing Lesson Emotive Language This download is a Father’s Day writing lesson to teach Key Stage 2 pupils how to improve their use of emotive language. Pupils can choose to write the emotive letter to their father (for Father’s Day) or a special person in their lives. Although their is a mention to Father’s Day at the beginning, the lesson is designed to be inclusive of all family types. Pupils learn to elicit emotion through: Using the power of three Using superlative adjectives Using abstract nouns Using examples to illustrate points Pupils are tasked with writing the letter to a special person in their lives (which could be their father) to tell them why they are special to them. There are three differentiated challenges to allow pupils to stretch themselves. The lesson guides pupils through the planning and writing process, with teacher examples and tasks given along the way. Transition Workbook Year 6 to Year 7 / Primary to Secondary / New School This download is a Year 6 transition workbook for primary to secondary. It prepares pupils for the transition to a new school. It would also work for any pupil about to move schools to prepare them for the transition. There are pages on timings of the day at their new school, rewards and consequences, how they will get there and the all important school dinner! Most of the information required could be found on the website for their new school. Included: workbook (23 pages including front cover) editable (PowerPoint) version and also a PDF version for immediate printing.

Maths Starters This PowerPoint contains 5 maths esson starters with answers. Questions cover mass, ratio, time difference and date difference. Great for UKS2. Extra challenges included on slides.

A whole unit of work with all resources included. It consists of six presentations (one is an introduction and the other five are complete lessons) and four worksheets with opportunities for extra challenges to stretch more able pupils where appropriate. Pupils are tasked with coming up with a vegan dish which will compete with meat-based dishes on the school lunch menu. The lesson teaches pupils to: *Use internet search terms correctly *Know the important components of a vegan diet *Carry out market research to decide on final dish *Cost a dish (for the whole school) and ensure good value for money *Advertise the dish to fellow pupils *Use persuasive language to encourage the catering manager to make the dish and fellow pupils to buy it A variety of subjects are covered: DT, business studies, English and maths. The slides could be easily edited to suit the school and the desired outcome. Could be used as a Year 6 enterprise project.

SPaG / GPaS Lesson Starters Mystery Name These downloads are SPaG starters. There are 15 grammar starters. Each with a theme e.g. nouns, adjectives, verbs, pronouns, synonyms and antonyms . Each activity reveals one letter of the bear’s name. By the end of the week, the bear’s name is revealed. Answers for each day and the end of the week are included. Could be done as a whole class activity, or the slides could be printed so that pupils can complete individually or in pairs.

Want an assembly to use during the National Walking Month of May? This assembly is all about the benefits of walking and how 10 minutes of brisk walking can be incorporated into our day. It covers some of the barriers we may experience in walking to school and how these could be overcome. There’s plenty of opportunity for discussion about the benefits and barriers. During the assembly, pupils are introduced to case study pupils and encouraged to think of what they would say to these pupils so that they can see the value of walking. There are then three worksheets which can be used to consolidate the main points from the assembly and to encourage pupils to reflect on what they have learnt. Can be used to encourage walking to school or as part of a wider introduction to the benefits of walking.
