Made for year 5/6 pupils but can easily be adapted for year 3/4. Here are three lessons, which could be condensed or expanded, class dependent. The focus of the lessons are using expanded noun phrases, prepositional phrases, fronted adverbials and ambitious vocabulary. The lessons lead up to a task, where pupils describe a Greek Island (Santorini) although the island used can easily be changed. *This resource is made using SMART Notebook

Using SMART Notebook Made for year 5/6 pupils but can easily be adapted for year 3/4. Here are two lessons, which could be condensed or expanded class dependent. The focus of the lessons are using figurative language (similes, metaphors and personification) before writing a 3rd person, present tense recount of a cheetah hunting, chasing and catching its prey - using a clip from the Nat Geo Wild Youtube channel.

A short, ready-made unit focusing on getting some creative writing from the children. This is based around the scene from the boat from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone (video linked is from YouTube). The main SPAG elements from these sessions are: expanded noun phrases fronted adverbials prepositions & prepositional phrases It is using SMART notebook and can be used for any KS2 class. Some parts have multiple tasks, which can be chosen by the teacher. For example, children complete a task in their books or moving around the room adding fronted adverbials to sugar paper ready to share as a class.
