3 Sets of orienteering cards spelling out, Frankincense Good Tidings we bring and Happy Christmas Kept my Year 4 occupied for nearly an hour searching round to find which number leads to the next to spell out different Christmas word. Each card contains its number, a letter and then the next number to find. If printed on different coloured paper the three games can run consecutively and children move from one to the other

SAT's style comprehension questions based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Chapter 1. Questions ask children to think about word types, punctuation features and effects the writer is trying to create. A great introduction to the book and to check understanding of children's reading so far.

A set of different multiplication worded problems differentiated 3 ways. For the BA they are asked to multiply mainly units by units using common multiplication facts with a few TU x U For the A there questions involve multiplying TU x U For the HA the questions ask children to multiply HTU by U Used with year 4, questions and numbers can be edited/adapted

An advertising poster persuading people to visit the French Alps for a holiday using different persuasive writing techniques. Trick is there are a lot of Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation mistakes for children to read and correct. As an extension they are then asked how they can improve the persuasive poster, add in different techniques and write. Used with Year 4 during a persuasive writing unit, can link in with MFL

A SAT's style comprehension reading activity and questions based around the traditional tale Jack and the Beanstalk Questions focus on word classes, authorial intent and ask children to provide evidence, quotes from the text

A three way differentiated document boxing up the key events that happen in "The Tin Forest" story by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson. The tables allow children to plan how they might innovate the key events in the story and gives space for children to add in a key adjective they might use BA and a key sentence they might use A. For the HA the table is blank allowing them to 'box up' the stories key events for themselves and plan their innovation to re-write. A great resource for helping children cover the NC objective of being able to: plan their writing by:  discussing writing similar to that which they are planning to write in order to understand and learn from its structure, vocabulary and grammar  discussing and recording ideas

The BA question asks children to identify the co-ordinates of the location of different Christmas pictures For the A, a co-ordinate colouring by numbers. Children have to find the co-ordinates, draw the picture then colour . For the MA they have a series of co-ordinates to plot on squared paper to draw a Christmas tree

The Red set contains questions up to 2 digits The Yellow set mixture of 2 and 3 digits and some decimal places for money. The green set 4 digits and some decimal money questions and the Blue up to 5 and 6 with a mixture of decimal money places. Also contained is a set of questions with the wording left but all numbers removed for either teachers or pupils once completed to make their own to challenge a partner.

Features listed include; sub-heading, glossaries, captions, indexes, labels, table of contents, bullet points, photographs and titles

A matching exercise asking children to match the newspaper feature, e.g. headline, strapline, caption etc.. with an example. Used to assess childrens prior knowledge of newspaper articles in Year 4

An activity that can be very useful when used alongside a poetry unit where there are rules about number of syllables in lines, i.e. Haiku's There is a table split into 3 columns for 1, 2 and 3 syllable words with a word list set out on the next page for children to read out, clap out, sound out and sort into the three columns. Used with Year 4

Looked around for a long time at these multiplication jigsaws, such a good idea for lesson starters/plenaries but couldn't quite find the one I needed, and one I used had a mistake in! So I decided to create my own version where all the questions and answers can be edited, the rotation is all set up in a PPT file which took the time to sort This means that this jigsaw can be used/adapted to suit any maths need, or any other subject for that matter. At the moment the current version is set up with questions in the 6 and 9 times table
