A Diary entry and series of SAT's style comprehension questions. The diary entry contains a wide variety of different diary features and can be used as an excellent starting point for a series of work about diary entries providing a good example. The questions focus on different techniques used alongside developing children's inference and deduction skills.

A three way differentiated document boxing up the key events that happen in "The Tin Forest" story by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson. The tables allow children to plan how they might innovate the key events in the story and gives space for children to add in a key adjective they might use BA and a key sentence they might use A. For the HA the table is blank allowing them to 'box up' the stories key events for themselves and plan their innovation to re-write. A great resource for helping children cover the NC objective of being able to: plan their writing by:  discussing writing similar to that which they are planning to write in order to understand and learn from its structure, vocabulary and grammar  discussing and recording ideas

A worksheet created to help structure children's research into William Shakespeare. It asks key questions such as Year of Birth, Place of Birth, Year of Death, Family, First job, Number of plays written, First play.

A matching exercise asking children to match the newspaper feature, e.g. headline, strapline, caption etc.. with an example. Used to assess childrens prior knowledge of newspaper articles in Year 4

For the BA group there is a advertising poster for the children to read and answer questions from dating from 1951 For the A group a postcard has been written for the children to read and answer questions from picking out the persuasive language For the HA group there is a persuasive letter for the children to read and answer questions from picking out the persuasive writing techniques The resource provides a nice link to a persuasive writing topic and MFL Used with a Year 4 class

3 Sets of orienteering cards spelling out, Frankincense Good Tidings we bring and Happy Christmas Kept my Year 4 occupied for nearly an hour searching round to find which number leads to the next to spell out different Christmas word. Each card contains its number, a letter and then the next number to find. If printed on different coloured paper the three games can run consecutively and children move from one to the other

A SAT's style comprehension reading activity and questions based around the traditional tale Jack and the Beanstalk Questions focus on word classes, authorial intent and ask children to provide evidence, quotes from the text

14 questions based on Pie Corbett's short story Adventure at Sandy Cove Questions ask children to think at a word level, sentence level, think about imagery and authorial intent Some longer questions require children to find evidence from the text to support their answers

4 way differentiated 2 step addition and subtraction Charlie and the Chocolate factory themed worded problems. The Red set contains questions up to 2 digits The Yellow set mixture of 2 and 3 digits and some decimal places for money. The green set 4 digits and some decimal money questions and the Blue up to 5 and 6 with a mixture of decimal money places. Also contained is a set of questions with the wording left but all numbers removed for either teachers or pupils once completed to make their own to challenge a partner.

A comprehension questions and text based around the three types of poetry above. The resource contains 3 poems with a series of questions based around the number of syllables in each line, it also checks childrens understanding of the poetry rules and authorial intent

A set of cards that can be used either to play a game of snap or a game of find your partner with, getting children engaged in a lesson looking at units of time. In red font there are the units e.g. 24, 60, 12, 52 etc.. And in black font are the corresponding descriptions e.g. hours in a day, minutes in an hour, months in a year, weeks in a year and so on, there are 10 units and descriptions to match

Rainforest themed 4 way differentiated addition and subtraction problems, 4 sets on a page All about equipment needed to be took on a Rainforest adventure, would fit in nicely with topic work including tent, hat, food etc... First page 1 and 2 digit questions no decimals Second page 2 and 3 digit questions, some decimal amounts e.g. £24.99 Third page 3 digit questions, with 2 decimal places for money and up to 3 amounts to add together Fourth page 3 and 4 digits with up to 2 decimal places for money, 3 amounts and have to find how much change can be had from a certain amount.

A quiz asking children to guess the name of the force shown in the pictures before revealing the answers. Forces include; push, pull, twist, friction, gravity, air resistance, magnetism and buoyancy Then there is a table activity asking children to weigh different objects and then showing them how to convert to find the effect of gravity on the moon and mars used with a Year 5 class

A set of different coloured balloons with the names of the months written on them. They can either be printed out and laminated to create a whiteboard on which children's names and birthdays can be written or edited on the computer and printed out

A great lesson this, requiring children to use their measuring skills, fraction knowledge and multiplication skills. There are 4 tables of common different classroom objects children have to measure, including editable names of children in the class! (Just made up in this example, but I changed to include names of children in my class, created a real buzz) Children have to measure the objects, record the length, then find the fraction and record their answer. The BA have to find 1/3's and 1/10's A have to find multiples of 1/3's and 1/10's AA have to find a mixture of different amounts including 1/10's 1/5's and 1/3's and the MA have to find even more complex fractions of amounts of the objects they have measured.
