This resource can also be used to assess the children's counting, shape recognition and number formation and can be adapted for ability by removing some of the shapes.

Each sum is presented as a word problem and the children either need to use an addition or subtraction strategy ( extend by asking children what it was about the question that made them use a certain operation) the answers are revealed by clicking the mouse and the star will fly away.
