Fete / Fundraising Poster, Stall Posters and Activity Instructions

Colourful, editable posters to advertise a spring / summer Fete or fundraiser, and to display next to stalls and games, giving information about cost and instructions on how to play. Very helpful for ideas! Useful to let students know how each game works, and also the students / staff who are helping to run each stall. Template can be adjusted to suit your fundraiser. Stall Posters and Activity Instructions PowerPoint is 23 slides, with posters and instructions for activities such as a Raffle, Knock the Cans Over, Cupcake Decorating, Photo Booth, Chocolate Tombola, the Golf Game, Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar and the Bonus ball Lottery! Eye-catching, colourful and a huge time-saver!
Expo 1 - French Alphabet

Expo 1 - French Alphabet

(0)
Great lesson, teaching the French alphabet to beginners. Based on Expo 1 French alphabet spread, but can be used for any age group. Starter builds on previous knowledge and asks students to find basic greetings in a grid. Practice with the sounds of the French alphabet follows, with two games. Mini whiteboard activity to spell the mystery character's name is next, followed by the question 'Comment ça s'écrit' and the students noting the answer for their own names (and those of extended family, pets etc. if teacher wishes). An introduction to French accents is the last activity, with a Blockbusters game to review and consolidate learning to finish. Engaging way to present alphabet, fully animated with notes under each activity for teacher if required. Great fun to teach!

Observer Servers - Group work peer observation and reflection

(0)
Presentation guiding students through the process of peer observation of behaviour in group work and the effects on learning. Based on the activity in the excellent 'The Teacher's Toolkit' by Paul Ginnis. Used to great effect, a real behaviour-for-learning changer and very insightful for students. Definitely worth doing! I use every year with each class to install values and bring attention to the ripple effect of any behaviour that doesn't support learning. The feedback makes much more of a difference coming from their peers rather than me! Use alongside a group activity (for example a reading text and questions), and allow time at the start of the lesson for an explanation and a full reflection at the end (15 minutes+).

Expo 1 - Dans mon sac

Great lesson, teaching school objects to beginners. Based on Expo 1 French 'Dans mon sac' spread, but can be used for any age group. Starter asks students to translate as many objects as they can in time limit, with a dictionary. Emphasis on independent learning. Challenge is to add extra school objects that aren't on the list. Students then repeat vocabulary, followed by 'Qu'est-ce-que c'est' game, in pairs and then as a class to win points. Reading activity follows, matching the descriptions of school bags to the right pictures. Speaking activity with dice is next and a writing activity to finish. Scaffold provided for LA. Pictionary game to review learning - always great fun!

Italian New Year Traditions - KS3 - Worksheet and Answers

(0)
Excellent resource, outlining in four short paragraphs a series of Italian traditions and customs for New Year's Eve. Document includes a short text, a series of questions in English to consolidate understanding, answers to the questions and helpful vocabulary. The text is adapted from a longer article online (link on worksheet) and can easily be lengthened if not challenging enough for group. I use this with a year 7 and a year 10 Italian class, both several months into their Italian language studies. Acts as a great springboard for further discussion and cultural comparisons, and introduces them to a range of authentic vocabulary. A perfect first lesson back in January, topical and interesting.

Full lesson, linking to Unit 1.1 of Expo 1 - 'C'est parti: Bonjour'. Lesson covers meeting people, using the pronouns 'je' and 'tu' (and 'vous' as an extension), a wide range of greetings (hello, hi, goodbye, see you soon, have a lovely day etc.) and ways to ask how people are and respond to the question. Lots of speaking, mini whiteboard activities, pairs, 'Splat', a dice activity and a 'Spin the Wheel' game at the end of the lesson to consolidate learning. Fully animated with notes under each slide for teacher. Lesson PowerPoint, pairs game and worksheet included in download. Great fun to teach!

Expo 2 (Rouge) - Desolé(e) mais... - Excuses

(0)
Great lesson, focusing on excuses for not responding positively to an invitation. Based on 'Desolée mais...' spread in Expo 2 (Rouge). Can be taught as one or two lessons depending on ability of group - lots in here. 11 activities in total + 2 Starters and 2 Plenary games. I have split it into two lessons as best for my class, but second date and Starter slide can easily be deleted to make it into one lesson. Fully animated with all answers. Directions for teacher if helpful under each slide. Differentiated with support and challenge options. Lots of games, mini whiteboard activities etc. Verb tables and songs for 'devoir' and 'pouvoir'. A huge time saver and great fun to teach!

Numbers worksheet 1-10 and answers

(1)
Worksheet with four activities relating to the numbers 1-10 in French. Answers included in separate document for ease of marking and reflection. Fully differentiated with 'Challenge' activity and 'Want support' scaffold for each activity and number line. Activities gradually build in difficulty, finishing with a word search for numbers. Makes a great lesson after repetition and song at the start and with bingo to finish. Reinforces confidence and knowledge with basic numbers and draws on dictionary skills too, asking students to look up words such as 'roue' and 'ordinateur' to answer questions.

Mario Kart Grammar Grand Prix - Assessment for Learning Progress Tracker

(0)
Excellent resource, adored by students, to track and chart progress. Set up to be used for grammar ('er', 'ir', 're', modal verbs and so on), but can be adapted to suit any learning objectives. Students are assigned a character and given a grid at the start of term, or half-term, depending on how many objectives you wish to cover. After each objective has been covered, they circle the traffic light for that square to represent their confidence and understanding - green for very confident, amber for okay but a little unsure, and red if they feel they still don't understand. Very useful for teacher to glance over, to set activities in class as groups, or differentiated homework / prep. A fabulous insight into the progress of students individually and as a class that is subtle and fun for them. In my experience they are very honest too as only they and you see the grid, rather than asking for thumbs or coloured cards to be held up in class.
