Vocabulary knowledge is a direct link to reading comprehension. This vocabulary study provides vocabulary activities for words that appear in the novel Zane and the Hurricane by Rodman Philbrick. This print and go resource is the perfect addition to a novel study on, Zane and the Hurricane, by Rodman Philbrick. This resource includes student handouts for 4 different themes from the novel. Each handout includes a brief description of the theme and explains how the theme connects to the novel. Questions are also included to help guide students in analyzing their theme. Students will answer theme-related questions using themes present in the novel, Zane and the Hurricane. This is a great activity to split the class into groups and have each group work on a different theme. Some themes are more difficult, be sure to preview the questions to differentiate for your students.
