Fantastic Fantasy-Study guide and Workbook
This resource is used in conjunction with 'The Never-ending Story III' slideshow on Fantasy novels. It talks about important and reoccurring themes in the Fantasy genre such as: heroism, loyalty, quests, motifs, magic,good vs. evil and reality vs. fiction. I had previously used this with my Year 8 class and it seemed to work well for our unit. We based this section on an assessment as well-which produced good scores.

The Help study guide (Pre-viewing/reading activities)
This engaging resource can be used either with the film or the novel by Kathryn Stockett.
The questions are focused on helping illicit ideas and prepare students for the actual watching/reading portion of their study. Like most of my other resources there is material for discussion and debate or even just individual critical thinking.
The resource addresses: slavery,Jim Crow,segregation,civil rights, women’s rights and the wealth gap.
There are also some key dates that teachers can build knowledge on as background information and context.
Students can explore the time period of the 60s and the pros and cons of living in that time period. Teachers can also use the tasks to discuss Jim Crow and the impact the laws had on community as a whole.
Informative Texts- Newspaper Report Activity Lesson 1
**All about Newspaper Reports! **
In this engaging and interactive lesson, primary-level students are able to discover:
What constitutes an informative text and it’s narrative purpose.
How they are written, in particular, the elements that make up an effective and exciting newspaper report.
Important writing conventions that students can use to draft and write their own reports.
Students have three main activities in this lesson. They can first identify headlines in activity 1 before moving onto activity 2, where they will have to select information from a news article and label it according to the 5 elements of a report.
The last task asks students to select their own article and decode the elements independently or in pairs.
Fantastic Fantasy! Exploring themes in The Neverending Story III
This resource shows themes in classic Fantasy movies and stories. It speaks about three very common tropes in the genre, that being: Courage, Loyalty among friends and Survival skills. My classes loved the movie and the Presentations on the genre itself, I found this to be very useful in refreshing their memories of characters and what Fantasy writing/movies entail.

This resource can be used as a group work or individual activity.These sheets can be used as a form of diagnostic assessment or as a summative test assignment.It deals specifically with verbs,adjectives and nouns.

Media Class English- Adventure Time Lesson 1
This resource can be used for ESL or mainstream English Language learners. Students watch a short clip of the popular show ‘Adventure Time’ and then answer the set of comprehension, multiple choice or dictation tasks that are provided on the worksheet.
This resource has really helped me to improve my student’s overall command of English vernacular and idiomatic phrases. It also provides many extended response opportunities both oral and written.
Finally, I use these tasks to also have open discussions about the problems and solutions the characters face, many of which are also problems applicable to the students watching the episode. :)

This resource shows students how to write and identify newspaper reports as informational texts. It includes a newspaper sample and some practice questions. It also has a grammar focus on proper nouns.
It is an extension of lesson 1, also found in my shop.

Adult ESL/ELICOS lesson -grammar and vocabulary
This four- hour lesson focuses on vocabulary and grammar skills for senior school and adult learners. The vocabulary section is all about business skills, the vocabulary list, gap fill and quiz are centered around common business English words. The grammar section deals with zero, first, second and third conditionals and it reviews comparative and superlative adjectives.

I have used this resource with my classes many times, and they loved the fact that there was a rubric for them to monitor their progress, as well as, a chance to select what they found difficulty with.
