This lesson focuses on the opening of chapter 4 for the introduction of crooks. It also compares Crooks’ living situation compared to the other men. Information on racism at this time is given to students and how we see this throughout. The lesson is structured in such a way whereby students start with a ‘Do Now’ and have an opportunity to give their points across through classroom discussion and think-pair-share. There are also main tasks to consolidate the learning and ending with a plenary. This is lesson 19 from a 24 lesson scheme of work that I have created and is available as a bundle. This lesson follows on from the previous lesson where students found what others in the bunk house said about Curley’s Wife. In this lesson we are introduced to her and this gives the students an opportunity to decide their own first impression of Curley’s Wife. This is a resource I used with my KS4 students on their Coursework A for Pearson IGCSE Edexcel. This was used after students were due to submit their final piece of work. This RAG (Red, Amber, Green) list asks them several questions to make sure they have proofread their essay before submission. The resource is 2 pages and can be glued into their books or placed into their folder.

This resource is used after a mock examination to make students more reflective on what area’s of improvement they need to study. The booklet is 10 pages in total and asks students to rate their confidence in each question out of 10. It then ask a series of questions to make students reflect on their mock and how to improve. Students then rate each Non Fiction text, Section B Text Types and Topics before writing a “To Do List” which promotes independent study. I have used this with both of my Year 10 and Year 11 students after their mock examinations and they found it very beneficial. Exam: IGCSE Pearson EDEXCEL English Language A

A PowerPoint presentation that analyses Bertie and Lionel's relationship in The Kings Speech. There are links to two particular scenes showing the development of the relationship embedded in the PowerPoint which are used for students to analyse. Students are then asked to work in pairs to create a timeline of this relationship. Students have clear aims from the start and deep analysis of the relationship is explored using questioning, visual prompts, pair and individual work.

A differentiated recap on Blood Brothers. The resource includes 2 seperate worksheets: One for mixed ability for written answers and the other for lower ability which asks multiple choice questions.

A PowerPoint which studies key scenes that Lady Macbeth is involved in as part of an assessment question. There are questions embedded within the PowerPoint and also analysis of extracts.

A PowerPoint that I made for my lower ability Year 10 GCSE group. There is a matching activity within the PowerPoint where students use the pictures to find the line or lines of the poem that relates to the picture. There are also opportunities to have your own questions depending on your group and an opportunity for students to practice their presentation skills.
