This is a lesson presentation and two worksheets for a lesson on bridging ten using the ‘make 10’ strategy. It models making ten using tens frames and moves on to a written strategy. ‘Making ten’ involves making an equivilent equation that is easier to solve and is the basis for some efficient mental methods.

The PPT is fully animated and models the strategy fully, reflecting the worksheets closely. Highly visual and simple way of teaching the concept for the first time.

Three worksheets are included at three levels. Two remain with the practical strategy, the other moves on to written methods.
I use this with Year 2 alongside practical work with tens frames.
