Year 1 topic - Dinosaurs

Ice experiment worksheet - I froze dinosaurs in balloons. The children chose where to put them inside and outside of the classroom. We predicted which dinosaur egg would melt first and why.

Various letters from ‘Dino’ - our cuddly toy who sent us letters and gave us challenges to complete throughout the topic.

Maths worksheets - non-standard units. All differentiated. Templates are provided, which need to be cut out. I made dinosaur footprints in our outdoor area using soil.

Discussion writing - we talked about whether we would like to have a dinosaur as a pet today. Differentiated worksheets/templates to help children structure their for and against opinions.

What happens next - YouTube Video - my children watched the video and talked about what may happen next. They wrote the end of the story in their writing books.
