A lesson on brothers and sisters based on Dynamo 1, Module 1, Unit 1. Every task has an extension task to cater for the more able students.

STARTER: students answer the question ‘qu’est-ce que tu aimes?’ using the prompts provided. Opinion verbs must have been covered previously.

LANGUAGE INPUT: vocab about brothers and sisters along with the negative form ‘je n’ai pas de’.

TASK 1: reading activity with five sentences in French where different people say if they have any siblings. Students need to decide if the statements are true or false.

TASK 2: short writing activity where students need to look at pictures of different kids and write a short sentences saying if they have any siblings (eg. a picture of a boy and a girl = j’ai un frère et une sœur).

TASK 3: speaking activity where students practise asking each other the question ‘As-tu des frères et sœurs? Comment s’appellent-ils / elles?’.

PLENARY: assessement for learning opportunity using traffic lights (red, amber, green). This is also an occasion for students to perform the dialogue practised in task 3 in front of the whole class.
