Straight-forward lesson on analysing dystopia book blurbs. Book blurbs included are from the books “Zombie Camp” and “Monument 14.” Just download, print and teach.

Lesson breakdown:

1. Boggle starter activity.

2. Discussion on the front cover of each book.

3. Annotating “Zombie Camp” and “Monument 14” blurbs

4. Students create their own story blurb based on language techniques they have just seen.

5. Review - students share their work.

* Thanks for the feedback. Background images are probably just a question of taste. Personally, I like to use strong visual images as backgrounds as I find this works well for me and engages my classes. This was especially so in this lesson as the theme is dystopia so I wanted a strong image for impact. These can be easily changed to suit preference though.*

Some great ideas in this resource, however the background images are a bit much! Definitely not one you could use straight away, in my opinion.
