What’s different about this Christmas lesson? This lesson pack is a complete and comprehensive resource for busy class teachers, casual relief (substitute) teachers, student teachers, homeschooling families, or out-of-school-hours care programs. Not an end-of-year time-filler, but a meaningful Visual Arts lesson based on the Elements of Art, which contains ”Art Appreciation” and “Art Making” components and can be spread over more than one timetabled session.

Included with this lesson pack are:
-A detailed and completely editable and adaptable lesson plan as a Word document, suggesting a Learning Intention and Success Criteria and suggesting links to the Australian Curriculum and NSW Syllabus. These can be edited to reflect your own requirements. The lesson plan includes a section to record differentiation and suggests extensions or adaptations of the lesson
-Colour Wheel slides
-Link to Warm and Cool Colour Video Clip. (
-Warm and Cool Christmas Tree Design Task Page
-Christmas tree outline as guide for tree drawing.
-Warm and Cool Colour Worksheet, based on video clip. (3 separate editable Word documents, UK/Aust Spelling, US Spelling and Answer Sheet)
Elements of Art: Colour Word Wall vocabulary cards in a separate PDF document.
-An editable class assessment sheet (Word document), which maintains alignment with Curriculum and Syllabus links, and the Learning Intention and Success Criteria in the Lesson Plan, including space to record students working towards, achieving or proficient with the success criteria, for observations/notes on individual students.
-An editable graded rubric for the Student Art Activity (Word Document) with space for written feedback. This may be adapted and grades removed, to use for formative rather than summative assessment
