IB Math AA/SL 3.1 – Distance, Volume & Angles in 3-D Space
This editable slide deck provides a thorough exploration of three-dimensional geometry in line with the IB syllabus.
Students will learn how to calculate the distance between two points in 3-D space. The deck then takes learners through how to find the surface area and volume of three-dimensional solids including right pyramids, right cones, spheres, hemispheres and combinations thereof, applying appropriate formulae and using worked examples to link the algebraic expressions to the geometry. Finally, the resource covers how to find the size of an angle between two intersecting lines or between a line and a plane, using vector direction and normal vectors together with the scalar product to compute the acute angle.
Aligned with the IB syllabus. and with clear diagrams, step-by-step worked solutions and exam-style problems, this deck equips students to master spatial reasoning, solid-modelling and 3-D angle calculations with confidence.
