This bundle provides full coverage of Topic 2 Coastal Environments, bringing together the three core sections of the specification: Physical Processes, Distinctive Coastal Ecosystems, and Coastal Management. It is structured to move students from understanding how coasts function, to analysing coastal environments, and finally evaluating how they are managed.

The Physical Processes unit builds the foundational knowledge of coastal systems. Students examine wave types, erosion, transportation and deposition, alongside the role of geology and marine processes in shaping coastal landforms. There is a clear focus on process → landform links and developing secure geographical explanation.

The Distinctive Coastal Ecosystems unit develops this further by exploring coastal environments such as sand dunes, salt marshes and coral reefs. Students analyse how these ecosystems develop, the factors that influence them, and the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem services within coastal zones.

The Coastal Management unit focuses on decision-making and evaluation. Students assess a range of management strategies, including hard and soft engineering, as well as sustainable approaches. There is a clear emphasis on costs, benefits, stakeholder perspectives, and long-term effectiveness.

Across the bundle, resources are aligned closely to the Edexcel specification and structured to support progression from knowledge to application and evaluation. Lessons include diagrams, case study material, exam-style questions, and structured tasks to develop confidence with command words and extended responses.

This bundle is suitable for full topic delivery, revision, or targeted teaching of individual sections within the Coastal Environments specification.
