This is an introduction to Using the Calculator for teenagers and adults with special educational needs. It is a full course and includes student worksheets and answers.
The resource is intended to introduce students to the concept of using the calculator, including:

  • Calculator basics
  • Vocabulary
  • Rounding and estimating
  • Operations on the calculator
  • Decimals, fractions and percentages
  • Calculator practice

These worksheets are designed to cover the following learning outcomes:

  1. Find digits 0-9 and the decimal point and necessary operations buttons (+, -, ÷, =) on a calculator
  2. Use a calculator to solve simple problems, e.g. add two items
  3. Use a calculator to correct work which has been completed without the use of a calculator
  4. Find and use a calculator on a mobile phone to work out how much several items will cost in a shopping trip
