I created this producers and consumers sorting resource with real photos, differentiated worksheets and hands-on early economics practice.

This 72-page resource helps learners understand the difference between people who make goods or provide services and people who buy or use them. It offers clear visual support and structured practice for special education, life skills and early elementary classrooms.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

  • 40 real-photo scenarios: 20 producers and 20 consumers
  • 40 reusable photo sorting cards
  • 3 sorting mats
  • 14 teaching and concept pages
  • 3 differentiated levels of practice
  • Matching, sorting and identification activities
  • Producer-and-consumer relationship activities
  • Independent practice and mixed review
  • 12-item assessment and recording sheet
  • Complete answer keys
  • Teacher guidance and preparation instructions

THREE LEVELS OF PRACTICE

  • Level 1: High-support matching and guided choices
  • Level 2: Sorting, identification and connecting related roles
  • Level 3: Independent identification without teaching cues

HOW TEACHERS CAN USE IT

Use these producers and consumers activities during whole-class economics lessons, small-group instruction, one-to-one teaching, classroom centres, intervention sessions or independent practice.

Learners may respond by pointing, speaking, eye gaze or AAC. The reusable cards can be shuffled before each use so learners focus on understanding the concepts rather than memorising an answer pattern.

WHO IT IS FOR

This resource is designed for PreK–Grade 2 learners and students who benefit from clear photographs, reduced visual clutter and step-by-step instruction. It is particularly suitable for learners with autism, cognitive disabilities and additional learning needs.

FILES INCLUDED

  • 72-page print-ready PDF
  • 72-slide editable PowerPoint file
  • US Letter portrait format: 8.5 × 11 inches

The PowerPoint version allows teachers to edit text, labels and directions. The free Poppins font should be installed to preserve the original layout.
