The resource booklet covers background theory , worksheets and extension questions on redox for IGCSE/GCSE Chemistry. I have included
definitions and questions on oxidation and reduction in terms of oxygen gain/loss during metal oxide reactions, metal extraction from ores using carbon, metal reactivity series, oxidation in terms of loss or gain of electrons during redox reactions including metal displacement and metal acid reactions. Students also identify oxidising and reducing agents, understand how to construct 1/2 ionic equations for oxidation and reduction and balancing ionic equations is also covered. Spectator ions are also identified in redox reactions. There is also a practical investigation for the students to identify the conditions needed for rust to occur and preventative measures to reduce rust

I have essentially provided a workbook for the students that covers all the main principles of redox and provided practical opportunities for them to explore redox visually. I have also included several extension questions so that the range of abilities within the class is challenged.

Students write their answers directly into the booklet The booklet will be a very useful revision resource on this topic once completed.

Finally I have included solutions to all the tasks set in the booklet at the end.

The resource is designed for IGCSE/GCSE Chemistry but is also relevant to Key Stage 3 Chemistry where some aspects of redox is also covered.
