Setup & Materials
Grid Paper or a whiteboard.
Two Dice (or a deck of cards).
Small Counters (buttons, cereal, or coins) if playing on a flat surface.
How to Play
Roll the Foundation: Player 1 rolls both dice.
The first die represents the Rows (horizontal).
The second die represents the Columns (vertical).
Build the Array: If you roll a 3 and a 4, you must build an array that is “3 rows of 4.”
Write the Equation: To earn a point, the player must write the Repeated Addition Sentence for their array.
Example: 4 + 4 + 4 = 12
The “Switch” Bonus: Earn an extra point if you can write the equation for the array if it were rotated (the Commutative Property).
Example: 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12
