For the starter activity provide the class with some information about the elements. This can be tailored to your class, giving more or less information depending on ability (easily found on the web). Scavenger hunt activity about the scientists and their contribution to the development of the periodic table with a table to fill in. I have sanitised the information and cut down the amount of information that they need to read so that this can be completed in 10 minutes. AfL leading to a differentiated exam question.
