This is a lesson to calculate the circumference and area of a circle. There is a thunk on the front page for the students to talk about as they come in. There is then an embedded video for a puzzle starter. Then there is a pic showing the students what grades they are working at. Next you show the students a video of a film clip and discuss pi and then go onto discuss what it is and who found it etc. Then you can discuss what kind of number it is, you can either tell them or play a song and see if they can work it out. Next is a task where they come up and try to identify irrational and rational numbers by moving them into the correct circle. The circle song can then be played (it is annoying but it does work, they will remember the equations, but they will also hum it a lot!) There are then various questions attached where they calculate the area and circumference of circles, this then moves onto volume, there is a pizza plenary task with an interactive calculator so you can work it out together to check the solution. There is also an extension for the more able, where they have to calculate the area of a complicated circular shape.

I purchased this and was unable to use as it was a "flipchart" file. Would have been helpful to make available in other formats
