Year 4 Place Value Post-Assessment – 20 Marks
A clear and accessible Year 4 place value post-assessment, designed to check pupils’ understanding at the end of a place value unit. The assessment is closely aligned with the progression and key objectives commonly taught through Oak National Academy, NCETM materials and the Year 4 National Curriculum.
The assessment covers decomposing 4-digit numbers, comparing and ordering numbers to 10,000, using place value knowledge to add multiples of 100, and rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000. It also includes a selection of reasoning and problem-solving questions so pupils can apply their understanding rather than simply recall procedures.
The resource is presented across two clear A4 landscape pages with a simple, visual layout designed to be easy for Year 4 pupils to access.
Includes: 20 marks in total, a mixture of fluency and reasoning, visual place value representations, rounding within 100, 500 and 10,000, comparison and ordering, decomposition, and place-value-based addition.
Ideal for end-of-unit assessment, formative assessment, evidence for books, intervention planning or identifying gaps before moving on to the next maths unit.
