World Cup Football Collaborative Co-operative Learning Geography Activity

This is a fun collaborative and co-operative learning activity for World Cup geography skills to help children discover facts about countries, team emblems,capital cities and famous landmarks. It helps children look at physical geography and is entirely editable, to replace with whichever teams/information you wish to focus on. All pictures are from royalty free clipart. There is also an extension activity idea. It is aimed at KS1 and KS2 (it can be simplified or added to to makes it more difficult/easy). I will be using it as part of my end of term activities. What Is The Route Of The Tsars - The Trans-Siberian Railway

In the late 19th century, Japan, Britain and America gained footholds on the Chinese coast as bases for their trade with China and the Orient. Russia needed to secure a foothold in the east as well as securing the vast expanses of Siberia, so in 1891 Tsar Alexander III approved a plan for a trans-continental line linking Moscow and St Petersburg with Vladivostok on the Pacific coast, as this was the only year-round ice-free port in Russia. These worksheets allow the students to study the Trans-Siberian railway, study its timeline and produce a suitable logo an slogan which could be used to advertise the journey.

I often get pupils asking what country is next, or wondering where the country is and encouraging them to use an atlas to locate it they frequently comment or ask about the facts displayed.
