iGCSE Physics Equations and iGCSE Physics Formulae with their Units all on one page

iGCSE Physics Equations and iGCSE Physics Formulae with their Units all on one page

Hello everyone! I made this page for all iGCSE scientists for their Physics exams. The resource includes all the formulae and equations needed for Paper 1 and Paper 2, and also includes the UNITS that students need to learn. I wasn’t able to find anything suitable for the new scheme, so I borrowed a layout idea from a previously available resource on here and made my own page from scratch. Included in the download you’ll get the colour version and the black and white version. Enjoy it - I hope it helps you!

AQA Combined Science Trilogy: 6.5-6.7 Paper 2 Physics Quiz

AQA Combined Science Trilogy: 6.5-6.7 Paper 2 Physics Quiz

Want to quickly and easily review a chapter of the AQA Combined Science Trilogy specification? Want to be able to lead pupils to a targeted revision list to enable them to close their gaps? This revision resource consists of a range of questions across the specific specification points. There are a minimum of two questions per spec code. The specification document has been closely used to guarantee the correct use of terminology and phrasing. This leads to pupils then self-marking after each sub topic. This will consist of them marking and noting the identified spec code in a WWW or EBI list. Once the quiz is completed they will then follow the instructions to create their own personalised review of the full quiz and self-generate their personalised revision list by specification name using the supplied list. This activity is 1-2 lessons per quiz depending on the depth of revision time you allow the pupils though these tasks can be class or homework. Lesson plan included.

Inspiring interest in radio communications

Inspiring interest in radio communications

SDRplay provide a “software defined radio” (SDR) which turns a Raspberry Pi or PC into a full communications receiver capable of picking up radio signals across the spectrum from long waves to microwaves. All you need is the SDR and a simple antenna which is often just a length of wire. This simple tutorial can help a class pick up signals for themselves: https://youtu.be/JvP8t8aPmRw and this inspiring video shows how a class can pick up actual pictures from the International Space Station (first the class can practice on other signals and when they are ready, they can time their listening for when the ISS is transmitting pictures and passing overhead. See: https://youtu.be/vRwH0FlH9MA Potentially SDRplay can lend a school an RSP1A, or they can be bought with educational discount by emailing jon.hudson@sdrplay.com (SDRplay co-founder)

Electromagnetic Waves

Electromagnetic Waves

A fully-resourced lesson that looks at the 7 electromagnetic waves, their differences, similarities and uses. The lesson includes an engaging presentation (54 slides) and associated worksheets. The lesson begins with a number of engaging activities to get the students to find out the names of the 7 waves in the spectrum. Students will be challenged to use their knowledge of the properties of waves to explain why they have been arranged in this particular order. Moving forwards, some time is taken to ensure that students recognise the similarities of the waves. The rest of the lesson focuses on the uses of the waves and a homework is also set to get students to increase the number of uses that they know for each wave. There are regular progress checks throughout the lesson so that students can assess their understanding at critical points. This lesson has primarily been designed for GCSE students (14 - 16 year olds in the UK) but could be used with students at KS3 who are doing a project

New AQA P4 Atomic Structure Resources for All Lessons

New AQA P4 Atomic Structure Resources for All Lessons

Here are resources to teach the new AQA atomic structure module. There is a PowerPoint for each lesson. Some of the resources have been taken from other authors on the TES but I wanted to upload so they are all in one place. The contamination lesson is missing - I’ve uploaded this separately as a murder mystery resource.

Year 9 Physics Waves, Light, Sound, Mirrors, Lenses Fact Sheet

Year 9 Physics Waves, Light, Sound, Mirrors, Lenses Fact Sheet

This set of notes is great for students as it collates all the information they need to know onto an A4 piece of paper. This bundle includes an editable word doc as well as cheat sheet with diagrams. I used this cheat sheet with a lower ability class which allows them to look through the notes. Use as you wish! This matches up with the Australian Curriculum for Year 9 Science (Physics).

Radiation Murder Mystery

Radiation Murder Mystery

This is a lesson which I ran with my Year 10s. Students have to use their knowledge of radiation to solve clues and discover who the murderer is. I set up five stations in the room and they moved around every six minutes. One of these stations was outside the room - they had to decontaminate the crime scene and were graded by one of the lab techs. They complete a section of the worksheet for each station. I also printed some additional questions on the back which students completed if they finished an activity early. I can’t take credit for the starter or the decontamination activity as I downloaded this from the TES, but thought it was a great idea so have incorporated into the lesson.
