This folder contains a complete SOW for the module ORIGINS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE targeted at KS3 year 7 & 8. There are 20 complete lessons with PPT, worksheets and video files, as well as a Reading Assessment in lesson 11 (Middle English) and a Creative Writing assessment, which the pupils will really enjoy. I have run these lesson as part of our online learning time during lockdown 2020 and they are created to keep the students focused all the time, with short tasks expanding into longer ones… The content of the lessons will go from the Evolution of English Language to Middle English and a focus of a few lessons on Chaucer, as well as the Reading Assessment, and later to Michael Rosen and Language Evolution, as well as Semantics, Idiolect, Sociolect, Degrees of Formality, and Accents and Dialects. I hope you will find them useful, if you are teaching this module.

This is a complete lesson (8 slides) where students will practice various narrative perspectives, using a picture stimulus. They first work with an exemplar photo and aim to identify all possible perspectives, then they have a go at one picture of their choice and write a description using a character’s perspective.
