Great SOW designed as an interlude for KS3 Year 9s. The rationale behind this unit was to create a series of lessons which introduce pupils to the schools of thought used in literary criticism and covers the basics of Feminism, Marxism and Psychoanalysis. There is no expectation that you should complete all three, instead, choose to spend as long or as little time on each school of thought depending on the needs, abilities and interests of your class. In the long term, this unit would complement pupils when they begin their study of GCSE Literature texts and lays the foundations for literary criticism at GCSE and A-Level. The aim is for pupils to have the knowledge required to view their GCSE texts from each of these different lenses in the hope of deriving new, perceptive and interesting interpretations of the prose, poetry and drama they encounter at KS4.

Short SOW (7 lessons) targeted at KS4 students teaching them exactly how to write persuasively and earn the best possible grade in AQA Language Paper 2 Section B (transactional writing). Could be used as revision in the lead up to exams or an introduction to crafting rhetoric.
