Specific questions have been picked out from the book for pupils to attempt in lessons/ own time. I have also used mini tests, exampro questions and worksheets (not included) to check understanding as we went through. Will probably need adapting for your pupils needs and additional resources/questions/ homeworks for pupils culminated.

A powerpoint used with my current year 13’s on the option unit ‘Turning points’. Includes all the information pupils need - including practice questions, videos etc. It has been broken down into the three sections of the topic - The discovery of the electron Wave particle duality Special Relativity It is in a similar order to the students workbook so pupils can follow along/ prepare or revisit lessons. After each section of the topic we spent some time answer past exam questions on the knowledge the pupils had learnt (can be found on the AQA website) At the end of the whole topic I gave them a whole past paper.

KS3 science literacy assessments Follows exploring science 7- 9 - broken up per these topics. Introduction and question at the top, a space for notes, a space for organisation of thoughts and a space to write final answers. Used as an assessment tool science wide for consistency thought out the department.

Used alongside Exploring Science 7 Multiple lesson including demos and practicals using circuits. Includes ; Recap on Energy stores and transfers Symbols and drawing diagrams. Making circuits. Comparing series and parallel circuits. Current Fuses Also includes some printable circuits etc for very low ability pupils.

Instructions on powerpoint on how pupils will complete practical. Looking at how length of wire and width of wire effects resistance. Used with low ability year 8 pupils - put into context of moving down corridors.

Two lessons on sound for KS3 low ability pupils. Hearing damage includes information, a youtube video and a table pupils need to complete. The Bell Jar includes looking at how sound moves - this will not fill a whole lesson - I followed up this with information about the ear.

Homework including pictures and what the scientist did. Pupils have to research the different scientists and match complete a match up. Engaging pupils in scientists of the past, what they did and improving research skills.

Used with a low ability year 8 Starter - recap on the difference between convection, conduction and radiation - pictures to help. Practical - exploring coloured papers ability to reflect and absorb heat - work in groups for faster data collection. Plenary - Share conclusions.

This is a selection of resources from the KS3 science unit of Light. Includes powerpoints for all the main areas and worksheets where needed. It also includes many practicals to include within the unit - you can do a eye dissection if you choose to. I have used this series of powerpoints multiple times and work well with Exploring Science 8J.
