Debate classes - L1 homework and L2 school trips

This resource focuses on developing reasoning and discussion skills for ESL students. I have used this resource in 1-1 online classes and in a full 25+ student classroom too. Two powerpoint presentations are included. Debate class 1 - should homework be banned? This class includes introduction questions and warm up questions focusing on adverbs of frequency (additional worksheets could be used alongside this but are not included in this resource). Debate class 2 - how often should we go on school trips? This class includes introduction questions and vocabulary focused warm ups. Both classes allows a fluent discussion surrounding the key topic and introduces different opinions, debate questions and areas for in depth exploration

Mixed numbers & improper fractions pack!

Two powerpoints and two worksheets based on mixed numbers and improper fractions. Worked well in Year 4! Low and mid ability worksheets included. My HA moved onto simplifying fractions quite quickly and I used mastery challenge questions throughout the two sessions. Powerpoints recap what a fraction is, what they look like and introduce improper fractions and mixed numbers. The two lessons seperate the steps to converting between them and introduce the MAD acronym. Used this alongside starters of ordering fractions silently from smallest to largest and throwing in a few mixed numbers to challenge them!

3 Day Haiku fun!

3 powerpoints with accompanying worksheets based around Haikus! Perfect for lower KS2 Grey background used to support child with dyslexia. Tasks can be differentiated. Day 1 focuses on identifying the 5-7-5 structure of Haikus and adapting poems to fit this structure. Works really well if done collaboratively and children are sat in mixed ability groups to encourage a wide use of language and participation. Day 2 moves onto writing our own and playing guess who as a class. Inspire the children to use a range of creative adjectives and share as a class, other children can guess who their poem is about. Day 3 focuses on writing a collection of Haikus based around animals. Modelled first on the powerpoint and write one or two as a class. Back up with pictures of animals as visual aids to support any SEND children (not included due to copyright). Really fun activities which encourage collaborative learning and child led lessons. Worked amazingly with my Year 4 class who loved having the freedom to choose what they wrote about and share their work together.

FUN 2-12 TIMES TABLE ACTIVITY!

**Ideal resource for any age between KS1 – KS2. ** Hands on, useful resource for teaching children different times tables. Simply print out and cut out! Either give the children pegs, post it notes or anything sticky with a range of numbers on and they must match the times table question to the right answer. Really useful for 1-1 or small group interventions but could also be used in whole class sessions as either a starter, each table has a different times table circle (differentiation opportunity) or as a whole class ‘treasure hunt’ making it a bit more of a competition. Worked amazingly during my 1-1 sessions with a SEND child and I’m sure it’ll come in handy again.
