A lesson I used in my first interview as a RQT for a class of mixed ability year 8 students. A great introduction to the themes of Love and Relationships poetry for KS4 and fun, engaging and interactive introduction to poetry. Using Carol Ann Duffy’s infamous poem ‘Valentine’, your class will Explore the brief history of Valentines day and types of love Build their vocabulary by being introduced to KS4 terminology Read and briefly analyse this short and accessible poem that is littered with emotive and figurative language Choose their own poem in the style of Valentine by choosing a mystery object (optional but extremely fun and engaging if you take a bag of mystery items to your lesson) Plus many more challenges and mini activities included in the pack! With one printed resource to stick into books and a bag of wacky household objects, this one’s low on effort and big on student satisfaction and learning!
